To sit in stillness for moments a day can have the most profound effects on the body and mind. You can do more therapeutic work in a 5 minute session than weeks in a therapists office. First and foremost please know meditation is challenging for everyone. Things come up that make us uncomfortable. Some moments might irritate us. Our desire for distraction grips us at any slight uneasiness. But if you can stick with it and find any stillness within those moments, I promise, wonderful things begin to unfold. Allow yourself this simple and yet powerful, life-changing gift. Make time for you within the chaos of everyday living. The connection you will begin to develop with yourself will be the catalyst to a connected and beautiful life.

*sidenote: treat yourSelf to Alan Watts often – he's medicine for the mind
I also recommend simply sitting. In stillness. With your focus on the breath and a calm, relaxed state of mind. As thoughts arise – which they will – acknowledge them and come back to the breath. Gently. And with intention.
Surrender control. Do this time and time again. If you need something more than the inhale/exhale to focus on, try a mantra with each breath. The power of affirmation can also do wonders.
Be still. Be gentle.
